About

Hi there, I'm Amy and this blog is place for me to share my creative projects.  The most important things in my life are family, faith and creativity!  I love the arts, nature and animals and am trying to improve my cooking skills.

I grew up in rural California, where I learned to sew and crochet and do crafts from my Mother and Grandmother, and to love camping and nature from both of my parents and Grandparents.  When I was 10 we moved overseas to live for 5 years in incredible Singapore, thus beginning a life long love of Asian cultures, foods & arts.   During my high school years we hopped back and forth between Cali and Texas.

I met my husband David after high school and we married young.  Most of my married life has been spent in the suburbs of Dallas/Ft. Worth, as we worked on our college degrees and careers.  I have a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts Education, and have worked as an Art Teacher for primary aged students.  As a teacher most years I had 350+ students, ages Kinder-5th grade, and we made wonderful art of all kinds.  Somewhere along the way of married life I have been blessed to hear the call of the Lord and have accepted Jesus as my savior.  God has blessed me with such as sense of peace, purpose and meaning since.

For many years our family consisted of the two of us and our 3 pets.  We have two good dogs; Lincoln (a tan Dachshund x Beagle?) and Maggie (a black Giant Schnauzer x Standard Poodle).  We brought them home the same day from an animal shelter around 10 years ago.  Our gorgeous long haired orange cat, Kittens McFluff, showed up at our house as a half grown-up cat and decided to stick around.

In early Spring of 2013 our lives changed forever when our son Nathaniel and daughter Isabelle entered our lives.  We wanted to have a child and God blessed us with two!  Life with twins is difficult at times, but watching them develop into little people is so wonderful.

Recently, my husband has begun a new career as an ER nurse.  Just in time too, because I gave up my teaching job when the twins were born!  Daycare for 2 would have eaten up a huge chunk of my income and most of our family is in California.  So for now I am lucky to be able to stay home with our babies and care for them.  We just moved to Oklahoma for his new ER job, and I am enjoying our new peaceful, country location.  Someday we will put down roots, but for now this works!
